Moody Mom: Little Girls and Weddings

About 4 weeks ago we got an invitation to my neighbor/friends’s wedding. I put it on my refrigerator as a reminder of the date. Becca bugging me about that daily asking – when is Aunt Klansee’s wedding?

Finally the day arrived this past Saturday. As soon as Bear woke up she wanted to put on her dress and go. First, I had to explain to her it was later that night. Then we had to go through her closet for 30 minutes as she picked out the perfect dress to wear.

The first dress she picked out was the dress she wore as the flower girl in one of my other neighbor/friend’s wedding. But it was a long dress and Aunt Klansee’s wedding was going to be outside so I talked her out of that one. Then she basically went through all the dresses in her closet asking will Aunt Klansee thing this one is pretty until we both agreed on a purple flower sun-dress that she wore this past Easter.

The day went on and we managed to do a few things to make the time pass. At 4 p.m. it was time to hit the showers and get all dolled up for the wedding. I pulled her hair back in a pony tail and curled the ends – she looked so pretty.

On the way to the wedding Bear was excited but I was dreading the fact that it was an outside wedding and the weather was so hot.

As we arrived at the wedding destination, Bear got even more excited to learn that Aunt Klansee would be arriving in a horse-drawn carriage and I stopped worrying about the heat as soon as I saw the beautiful rock platform draped in ferns and a large pond reflecting the lovely sunlight through the trees directly behind it.

The wedding started and Bear kept asking – Where’s Aunt Klansee?  Then finally I caught a glimpse of the carriage as it was coming around the backside of the lake. Bear immediately started shaking with excitement as she giggled the cutest giggle I have ever heard.

The horse stopped and Klnasee’s dad held out his hand as she exited the carriage. At that point I thought – “I want to get married again and have it here with the carriage and all.”

Bear repeated “There’s Aunt Klnasee, she looks beautiful” a couple of times as Klansee and her dad was making her way down the aisle. She even said Hi and waved to her.

During the ceremony Bear’s excitement continued and at one point she held up Beary, her Build-A-Bear dressed in a wedding dress and veil, for Aunt Klansee to see.

I was informed in the car on the way to the wedding that Beary was getting married also. I meant to get a photo of Bear and Beary but I forgot – DANG!

Rebecca was all smiles until it was time for the Bride and Groom to kiss (Bear does not do kissing) and she immediately covered  her eyes.

After the wedding we stayed for the reception as Blessed Mom watched Rebecca and I served punch. Klansse had the server’s wear the cutest apron’s with our names on them. I will have to pass that one on to the cook, since I don’t cook.

Some of the kids Young and old – CATHY, played on one of the swings hanging down from a huge oak tree.

On the way home Rebecca informed us the Beary did get married and had a great time.

Congrats Klansee and Mark, the wedding was beautiful.

Yes, it was a beautiful evening. My girl loves weddings. She doesn’t think you are married until the bride and groom dance together. She loved the horse drawn carriage! She will probably remember that for the rest of her life. I think it is sweet how little girls love weddings. It scares my husband to death! At least for now Mallory wants to marry her daddy. That’s sweet!

Kristina, thank you for sharing Becca’s thoughts and excitement about our wedding. She is so cute and full of a little girl’s innocence, which is precious. What you wrote about how she felt, what she said and what she did made me cry. I’m so glad Becca brought Beary to the wedding too! That was sweet! I love looking at all your pictures…thank you for taking them and sharing. Give that little girl hugs from her “aunt klansee”…. :)
